About Us
Splatt Farm Gardens is a nature-based campsite, forest school and retreat space in Somerset.
We are a small non-profit community creating a living, evolving experiment in how people can return to connection with the land, with each other, and with themselves.
Set in the Somerset countryside, we offer off-grid camping, forest school experiences, volunteering opportunities and nature-based retreats within a regenerative, community-led farm environment.
At the heart of everything we do are three core values:
🌱 Wellbeing of the individual
🌿 Wellbeing of the community
🌍 Wellbeing of the Earth
We are creating a nature-based emotional playground for adults and children alike: a safe, supportive space where people can slow down, reconnect, and ask:
“How do I feel? What do I need right now?”
From there, each person is invited to follow what feels right in that moment whether that is rest, movement, learning, play, or simply being still.
We offer off-grid camping, forest school experiences, volunteering opportunities and nature-based retreats within a regenerative, permaculture environment.
Camping, Forest School & Nature-Based Retreats in Somerset
This is a place to experience nature in a hands-on, meaningful way.
Our Somerset campsite and off-grid camping space offers simple, peaceful stays surrounded by trees, birdsong and open land.
Guests are invited to rest, reconnect and enjoy the rhythms of nature.
Our forest school sessions offer child-led, nature-based learning, supporting confidence, curiosity and outdoor skills through play, exploration and seasonal activities.
We also host nature-based retreats and wellbeing experiences designed to help people slow down, regulate, learn new skills and reconnect with themselves in a grounded, natural setting.
Across all our offerings, there is space for every mood and energy level, from active participation to deep rest.
An Emotional Playground for All Ages
Splatt Farm Gardens is a place to play, rest and explore: not just physically, but emotionally and creatively.
Some days might involve gardening in our community food gardens, planting trees, or learning about regenerative growing and permaculture.
Other days may include meditation, breathwork, foraging, fermentation, craft, or seasonal food preparation.
And other times, it may simply be resting by the fire, walking the land, or sitting quietly under the trees.
We believe in offering an activity for every energy level in a peaceful, held and non-pressured environment.
Regenerative Permaculture, Community & Volunteering
We are also developing a regenerative smallholding focused on:
-
permaculture design
-
food forests and biodiversity
-
habitat restoration and tree planting
-
sustainable food growing and soil regeneration
We welcome volunteers in Somerset who want to learn land-based skills, contribute to meaningful ecological work, and be part of a supportive community.
A Community-Led Space
We host seasonal gatherings, working weekends, open days, volunteering sessions and camping stays that bring people together in simple, grounded ways.
This is not a commercial attraction, it is a community-led, nature-based project built slowly, collectively and with care.
Who We Are
Splatt Farm Gardens is held by Mandala: a land-carer and space-holder with experience in permaculture, nature connection, yoga and trauma-informed practice.
She is supported by a growing circle of volunteers, families, growers and friends who believe that wellbeing, community and ecological restoration are deeply connected.
Together, we are learning how to live more slowly, more simply and more in tune with the land.
