SPLATT GROWING COMMUNITY
Fresh, Local, and Sustainably Grown Veg Boxes
Join Us at Splatt Farm Vegetable Gardens:
Splatt Farm Vegetable Gardens is a pioneering social enterprise that grows high-quality, chemical-free food for the residents of Spaxton and the surrounding villages. Our community-supported agriculture (CSA) scheme creates a direct partnership between growers like us and people like you who value fresh, sustainable, and locally-grown produce.
Using natural growing methods and permaculture principles, we aim to provide healthy, seasonal vegetables while increasing biodiversity and fostering a closer connection between people and the land. By supporting us, you’re not only getting delicious, nutrient-dense produce, but you’re also contributing to a more sustainable and resilient food system.
Are the Vegetables Organic?
While we don’t carry official organic certification (which involves a costly and complex process), we follow organic and permaculture principles in everything we do. This means that no synthetic pesticides or fertilisers are used on our crops, and we are committed to enhancing soil health and protecting local ecosystems. Our vegetables might not always conform to supermarket standards in terms of size and shape, but that’s part of the charm! Sometimes you’ll spot a caterpillar or tiny hole in your leafy greens—simply wash them out, knowing your food was grown naturally and sustainably, without the chemicals that are often found in conventionally farmed produce.
We’re always happy to talk about our growing methods, so if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us or ask for a tour of the farm.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Subscribe to Our Veg Boxes
You can subscribe to receive a fresh, locally grown veg box every week or fortnight, which can be conveniently collected from our Splatt Farm Gardens or Spaxton Shop on Wednesdays or Thursdays.
Each box contains a carefully selected variety of seasonal vegetables, grown without harmful pesticides or fertilisers.
If you have limited mobility or face difficulties collecting your veg box, please get in touch, and we’ll do our best to arrange delivery. What Will You Get in Your Box?
Every box is packed with the freshest produce, hand-picked from our gardens, ensuring that you get the best of what each season has to offer. Our veg boxes feature a diverse selection of at least six different vegetables each week, depending on what’s in season. Here’s what you might find:
Summer: Tomatoes, courgettes, aubergines, beetroot, peas, onions, chard, broccoli, cucumbers, peppers, beans, kale, cabbage, salad leaves, and chillies
Autumn: Pumpkins, squash, beetroot, beans, red cabbage, kale, leeks, cauliflower, chillies, aubergines, and salad leaves.
Can You Choose Your Veg?
We harvest what’s ripe and ready each week, so we can’t offer personalized selections. However, if there’s something in your box that you’re not a fan of, why not share it with a neighbour? Or, you might rediscover the joy of vegetables you thought you didn’t like as a child when they’re lovingly prepared from fresh, local sources.
